This describes the decisive moment of overcoming a last remaining obstacle — the courage and clarity to resolve something firmly, once and for all, rather than letting it linger unresolved indefinitely out of avoidance.

It appears when you're close to fully resolving a lingering problem: a difficult conversation you've been avoiding, a final obstacle before a goal that's otherwise entirely within reach now. Its counsel favors firm, public, proportionate resolution — stating your position clearly and acting with resolve, while cautioning against aggression beyond what's actually required to close the matter for good.

Say a long-avoided conversation, ending something, addressing a persistent issue directly, has been the last real obstacle between you and genuine resolution of the whole situation at last. This hexagram favors finally having that conversation clearly, stating your position openly rather than continuing to hint at it indirectly the way you have been, while keeping the delivery proportionate — firm resolve, not an overcorrection that creates a new problem in place of the old one you were trying to close for good.

Sitting near the end of the sequence's first major cycle, often read as the resolution of tension built across several preceding hexagrams that led up to exactly this point. The old text specifically favors informing your own close circle honestly before any wider, public resolution takes place — decisive action tends to go better when the people closest to you understand what's happening rather than learning about it secondhand from someone else entirely. However satisfying the resolve feels, the counsel is to close the matter cleanly rather than use the momentum to open new fronts you weren't originally trying to settle at all.
