Its counsel favors this kind of unforced, inner truthfulness as something that reaches others even without direct effort spent trying to persuade them of it outright.

Say you're trying to earn someone's trust, a new client, a skeptical colleague, someone close to you who has reason to doubt you because of something that happened before. This hexagram favors simply being consistently, quietly truthful over time rather than actively trying to convince them of your sincerity through argument or repeated reassurance. The classical image describes a crane calling from a hidden place and its young responding instinctively — trust that resonates because it's real, without needing to announce itself or explain itself to anyone.

Traditionally regarded as one of the more spiritually significant hexagrams in the sequence, closely associated with a faith and confidence that doesn't require external validation to be real or effective at all. The old text favors this kind of sincerity extending even to genuinely difficult company: "even pigs and fish," in the classical phrasing, are said to be moved by truly sincere conduct, however unlikely that sounds on first hearing it. Sincerity this complete rarely needs to explain or defend itself; its effect tends to become clear over time, on its own, without needing to be argued for at all.
